Procurement & Supply Chain Officer role involves sourcing, negotiating with suppliers, managing contracts, and overseeing the flow of goods and services to meet organizational needs. Key responsibilities include supplier and inventory management, cost control, logistics coordination, risk management, and ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.
Supplier and vendor management: Researching, evaluating, and selecting reliable suppliers, and maintaining strong relationships.
Negotiation and contracts: Negotiating prices, terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms and manage supplier performance.
Cost and budget management: Analyzing costs, preparing budgets, and reporting on expenditure to ensure purchases are cost-effective.
Inventory and logistics: Monitoring inventory levels, coordinating with internal teams to meet demand, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services.
Compliance: Ensuring all procurement activities comply with company policies, procedures, and relevant government standards or regulations.
Market research: Conducting market analysis to identify new opportunities and cost-saving procurement options.
Education: A bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field is often required. A diploma in a similar field can also be sufficient for some roles.
Experience: Entry-level positions may require 1-2 years of experience, while more senior roles will need more, sometimes 5-10 years in the specific industry. Internships are a great way to gain initial experience.
Software: Proficiency in relevant software like SAP or Ariba is often preferred.
Excellent client-facing, communication and negotiations skills and is able to work well with various level of stakeholders.
Strong command of Bahasa Melayu and English, both written and spoken, and is able to develop effective reports and presentations.
Computer Literacy: Proficiency with computers is often required for documentation and data management.
The ability to work independently, display initiative, and lead safety committees is a valuable asset.
